"I saw your house when it was built", the manager said. "Here's all that you'll need and how much it'll cost... five will be 15 cents while fifty will be 30 cents, 250 will be 45 cents, while 2507 will only cost you 60 cents. If it takes 3 people to dig a hole, how many does it take to dig half a hole?
24. What is the beginning of eternity. The end of time and space. The beginning of every end. And the end of every place?
The Answers
1. Incorrectly.
2. 1:45. The man gave away a total of 25 cents. He divided it between two people. Therefore, he gave a quarter to two.
3. None, the boat rises with the tide. Duh.
4. White. If all the walls face south, the house is at the north pole, and the bear, therefore, is a polar bear.
5. Three. Well, it seems that it could almost be either, but if you follow the mathematical orders of operation, division is performed before addition. So... half of two is one. Then add two, and the answer is three.
6. Sloppy is a goldfish. The wind blew the shutters in, which knocked his goldfish-bowl off the table, and it broke, killing him.
7. None. No matter how big a hole is, it's still a hole: the absence of dirt. (And those of you who said 36 cubic feet are wrong for another reason, too. You would have needed the length measurement too. So you don't even know how much air is in the hole.)
8. Both questions, same answer: the ball in the bucket of 45 degree F water hits the bottom of the bucket last. Did you think that the water in the 30 degree F bucket is frozen? Think again. The question said nothing about that bucket having anything in it. Therefore, there is no water (or ice) to slow the ball down...
9. The time and month/date/year are 12:34, 5/6/78.
10. An umbrella.
11. One. If he combines all of his haystacks, they all become one big stack.
12. The temperature.
13. The years are in B.C., not A.D. as you probably assumed. Based on the system we use to number the years, the years counted down in B.C. (but they weren't counting backwards back then).
14. A bed.
15. None. Moses didn't take animals on the ark. Noah did.
16. This year. He is 100, and his son is 50.
17. Gwen had forty-two boyfriends. 42-1=41. 41+3=44. 44/4=11. 11-1=10.
18. Five Thousand. Ten power five = 100,000. Divide that out (it was a 19:1 ratio) and you get a ratio of 95,000:5,000 (daughters:sons).
19. Four. If you square it, you get 16. Subtract his number of hits and you get 12. Subtract 10 and then 2 more and you get 0.
20. Two ounces. (Beach ball, or ping-pong ball?) 2x2=4. 4+2^2=8. 8-8=0.
21. Eleven men (and 15 horses). 11 (men) x 2 (feet per man)=22, 15 (horses) x 4 (feet per horse)=60, and 22 (men's feet) + 60 (horse's feet) = 82 feet. Also, 11 (men) + 15 (horses) = 26 (total heads).
22. House numbers. Each digit costs 15 cents.
23. It's impossible to dig a half of a hole. Either you have a hole, or you don't.
24. The letter E.

9 Tips in Life that Lead to Happiness
Are you truly happy? Do you even know what it means to be happy and what it takes to achieve happiness? These are important questions for anyone who is seeking happiness to ask themselves. I live my life to maintain my own happiness while trying my best to not cause unhappiness to anyone else. If you want to be happy you need to understand that you can be happy and that you should be happy. Many people make the mistake of believing that they don’t deserve happiness and accept their unhappy state as their destiny. The truth of the matter is that happiness, like anything else in life, needs to be nurtured. The following are a few tips that I follow to create happiness in my life.
1. Understand what it is that will make you happy. Everyone has unique requirements for attaining happiness and what makes one person happy may be very different from what makes someone else happy. Revel in your individuality and do not worry about whether or not your desires are comparable to those of your peers.
2. Make a plan for attaining goals that you believe will make you happy. Your mood will very likely increase as your pursue your goal because you will feel better about yourself for going after something you value.
3. Surround yourself with happy people. It is easy to begin to think negatively when you are surrounded by people who think that way. Conversely, if you are around people who are happy their emotional state will be infectious.
4. When something goes wrong try to figure out a solution instead of wallowing in self pity. Truly happy people don’t allow set backs to affect their mood because they know that with a little thought they can turn the circumstances back to their favor.
5. Spend a few minutes each day thinking about the things that make you happy. These few minutes will give you the opportunity to focus on the positive things in your life and will lead you to continued happiness.
6. It’s also important to take some time each day to do something nice for yourself. Whether you treat yourself to lunch, take a long, relaxing bath or simply spend a few extra minutes on your appearance you will be subconsciously putting yourself in a better mood.
7. Finding the humor in situations can also lead to happiness. While there are times that require you to be serious, when it is appropriate, find a way to make light of a situation that would otherwise make you unhappy.
8. Maintaining your health is another way to achieve happiness. Being overweight or not eating nutritious foods can have a negative effect on your mood. Additionally, exercise has been known to release endorphins that give you a feeling of happiness.
9. Finally, it is important to understand that you deserve happiness. Those who believe that they are not worthy of happiness may subconsciously sabotage their efforts to achieve happiness. If necessary, tell yourself each day that you deserve to be happy and remind yourself what steps you will take to achieve the happiness you desire.
Happiness is hard to define but most people are aware of whether they are happy or not. Many people believe that happiness is a form of luck and that some people are destined to be happy while others are destined to be unhappy. I try to incorporate the tips above into my life and have had great success in achieving happiness. The tips in this article are small but meaningful steps that you can take each day to lead you to true happiness.

Fletcher Capstan Tables

The expanding table shown here is the result of many years of development, but follows a line of history of more than one and a half centuries. This, the Fletcher Capstan Table, is the only table in the world with its unique properties.
It is a circular table which, when rotated at its outer perimeter, doubles its seating capacity, yet astonishingly remains truly circular.
The expansion leaves are stored within the table and, in just four seconds, smoothly and quickly emerge upon rotation, rising and radially expanding outwards as the entire top is turned through 30˚. Existing tables can seat six persons when small, and twelve or more when expanded, but there are other design possibilities.
All Capstan Tables are exclusively designed and built, and each one numbered. Careful consideration is always given to a table’s location and components are made to the highest standards. Nautical tables are so constructed that they are able to resist a harsh marine environment to the point that they may be positioned permanently on an exposed deck.

Bush Yoga

Utthita Trikonasana
Extended Triangle
When my mom told me she wanted me to become President, she asked my yogi to explain to me the three branches of the federal government. I remeber him saying something about my right shoe being the legislative branch, my left shoe the judicial, and the rest of my body the upward-reaching executive branch. "Kinda like when your at the ranch and you're thankful for your boots when you step in something awful," I said. He just nodded and smiled at me like he always does.

Oyster
Suddenly a large fish nearby stirred up a cloud of sand and silt with a flip of its tail. Sand! Oh, how the oyster disliked sand! It was so rough that it made life very unpleasant for the oyster whenever any got inside its shell.
Quickly the oyster slammed its shell shut, but it was too late. One hard, gritty grain of sand had gotten in and become lodged between the oyster's flesh and shell.
How that piece of sand bothered the oyster! But almost immediately, special glands God had given the oyster for coating the inside of its shell went to work, coating the irritating grain of sand with a shiny, smooth covering. Year after year the oyster added more layers, until at last it had produced a beautiful, lustrous pearl of great value.
Our problems are like that grain of sand. They bother us, and sometimes we wonder why we have to suffer the irritation and inconvenience they can be. But God will work wonders with our problems and weaknesses, if we will let Him. We become more humble, more prayerful, closer to the Lord, wiser and better able to cope with other problems that come our way. Like blessings in disguise, the Lord soon takes the rough pieces of sand in our life and turns them into precious pearls of inner strength, and they become an inspiration to others.

Speech APJ Abdul Kalam
Why is the media here so negative? Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, ourachievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing successstories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why?
We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites.
We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.L
ook at Dr. Sudarshan, he has transferred the tribal village into aself-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievementsbut our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.
I wasin Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was theday after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. TheHamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of aJewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid anda granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details ofkillings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried amongother news.
In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime. Why are we soNEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed withforeign things? We want foreign T. Vs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreigntechnology. Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respectcomes with self-reliance?
I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India. For her, you and I will have to build this developed India. You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developednation.
Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance.Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours.
YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke,The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.
YOU say, say and say.
What do YOU do about it?Take a person on his way to Singapore . Give him a name - YOURS. Give him a face- YOURS.
YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your Internationalbest. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in thestores.
YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are.
Youpay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of MahimCauseway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM.
YOU come back to theparking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurantor a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity... InSingapore you don't say anything, DO YOU?
YOU wouldn't dare to eat in publicduring Ramadan, in Dubai.
YOU would not dare to go out without yourhead covered in Jeddah.
YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephoneexchange in London at 10 pounds ( Rs.650) a month to, 'see to itthat my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.'YOU would not dare tospeed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop,'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son.Take your two bucks and get lost.'
YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shellanywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia andNew Zealand .
Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo ?
Why don't YOU use examinationjockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston???
We are stilltalking of the same YOU.
YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system inother countries but cannot in your own.
You who will throw papersand cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be aninvolved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot yoube the same here in India?Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay, Mr.Tinaikar, had a point to make. 'Rich people's dogs are walked on thestreets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place,' he said. 'Andthen the same people turn around to criticize and blame theauthorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect theofficers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels thepressure in his bowels? In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Samein Japan .
Will the Indian citizen do that here?' He's right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility. We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to doeverything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect thegovernment to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbageall over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paperand throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide cleanbathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms. We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletriesbut we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity.
This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to thepublic. When it comes to burning social issues like those related towomen, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home.
Our excuse? 'It's thewhole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons'rights to a dowry.' So who's going to change the system? What does a system consist of ? Very conveniently for us it consists of ourneighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and thegovernment. But definitely not me and YOU.
When it comes to us actually making apositive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along withour families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far awayand wait for a Mr.Clean to come along & work miracles for us with amajestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away.Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their gloryand praise their system.
When New York becomes insecure we run to England. When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out tothe Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued andbrought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape thecountry. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience ismortgaged to money.Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal ofintrospection and pricks one's conscience too....
I am echoing J.F. Kennedy's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians.....'ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIAAND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIAWHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY'Lets do what India needs from us.
Thank you,
Dr. Abdul Kalaam
(PRESIDENT OF INDIA)
